Music Teacher Bio For John Tracy

John Tracy is the director of Hillsdale Fine Arts Academy in Citrus Park. He and his faculty offer private lessons in all major categories: Piano, Voice, Strings, Woodwinds, Brass, Percussion, and Guitar. They represent Tampa’s finest professional musicians and have vast experience as individual performers and as private instructors. Members of our faculty are: church musicians, school instructors, Florida Orchestra members, freelance performers, recording artists, etc. All are experienced and qualified. HFAA also sponsors the Hillsdale Youth Symphony, a high skill level orchestra that performs regularly throughout TampaBay. Mr. Tracy is the conductor of the Hillsdale Youth Symphony.

HFAA is proud to have received the prestigious “Best of Tampa” award in the category of music academy in Tampabay, for 2008.

In addition to private music lessons, HFAA offers group instruction in several categories. One of those areas is the Suzuki Strings program. The Suzuki Method of music education began in the 1950’s by Japanese violinist Shinichi Suzuki. Dr. Suzuki believed that the best and most effective way to learn music is to be exposed to it from a very early age. He called this the “Mother Tongue” method – young children learning to play an instrument in the same way they learn their own spoken language: by listening, absorbing, and copying. When the child begins learning, it’s “by ear” - music reading is deferred to a later time in the same way speaking comes before reading. Parents are involved in the learning process, joining forces with the teacher to create an enjoyable learning environment.

Our music program is designed to maximize the student’s musical potential with the goal of preparing each individual for future service in ministry, musical performance, and personal enjoyment.
